ABSTRACT

While technology factors are the main driver of the booming real estate APP platforms with important implications for user behavior pattern during and post-pandemic contexts, there is a lack of adequate research. In response, this study explores the user behavior pattern of real estate APP platforms to promote user mental health by taking the real estate APP platforms users as the participants based on theory of technology readiness and acceptance model. Data collected from offline surveys are analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results reveal the technology readiness index positively affects individuals' perceived usefulness and satisfaction, ultimately positively affects individuals' continuance intention with real estate APP platforms;satisfaction with real estate APP platforms mediated the relationship between technology readiness index, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and individuals' continuance intention with real estate APP platforms. However, the group comparison finds no significant difference in user behavior patterns by gender. The contribution of this study is to reveal the influence mechanisms of digital technology on users' behavioral patterns toward real estate APP platforms, which can help guide the sustainable development of real estate APP platforms and promote user mental health and wellbeing in the post-COVID era.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: This study aims to investigate how online teaching of faculty members is affected by technological readiness (TR) of using online teaching platforms. The study sheds light on how many faculty members were ready to use different online platforms during COVID-19 period. Design/methodology/approach: This study used TR measures to determine the impact of optimism regarding the perceived usefulness and ease of usage, impact of innovativeness in terms of perceived usability and ease of use, the influence of discomfort on perceived usefulness and ease of usage, the effect of uncertainty on perceived usefulness and ease of use and the influence of perceived usefulness and ease of use on behavior. An online questionnaire survey was conducted among 255 faculty members of different private universities of Bangladesh. The sample was chosen based on a convenience method. The responses were analyzed using partial least square (PLS) approach with the help of software Smart PLS 3. Findings: The finding supported all of the hypotheses except that discomfort and insecurity have a positive relationship with ease of use and usefulness. Research limitations/implications: The study will help faculty members in developing their competency in using technologies in their pedagogy. Also, this study will provide some guidelines to the university management in developing adequate technological infrastructure to aid teaching. Practical implications: The aim of the study was to investigate the faculty members' readiness level with respect to online teaching. The technology assessment model (TAM) was used to determine the readiness index. The study intended to validate the hypotheses regarding the extent to which the faculty members perceived that TAM factors affect Ease of Use and Usefulness of online teaching. Also, this research analyzed the perception of faculty members that Ease of Using online teaching affects its Usefulness. Lastly, the study examined how their perception of Ease of Use and Usefulness affect Intention to Use online as a mode of teaching. It was found from the study that each of the TAM factors, Optimism, Innovativeness, Insecurity and Discomfort has positive and significant contribution on the Ease of Use. On the other hand, Optimism, Innovativeness, Insecurity and Discomfort have positive and significant contributions on the Usefulness. The study also revealed that Ease of Use has positive and significant contribution on the Usefulness. Lastly, it was found that Ease of Use and Usefulness have positive and significant contribution on the Intention to use. Teaching remotely is still a novel concept, and it is more difficult for people who have not done it before. Many teachers became burned out as a result of trying to adjust to new teaching methods, especially after the lockdown began. They were having a difficult time since there was so much ambiguity. When a teacher is well-versed in communication tools, it can improve learning efficiency. When they are properly trained, deploying engaging features of virtual learning, such as audio-visual lessons, quizzes, and so on, becomes simple, and students become eager to learn more. Teachers can plan their classes, prepare and master technology and create innovative and stimulating discussion topics (Mishra et al., 2020). They need to utilize a variety of technological options. They can rehearse virtual classroom management with colleagues if they face any difficulty. All of the aforementioned abilities can be honed with the assistance of an integrated academic system. Teachers can be trained by educational institutions to ensure a smooth learning process through the use of ICT (information and communication technologies) (Scherer et al., 2021;Mishra et al., 2020). The training will assist teachers in efficiently taking online classes. Institutions should ensure that teachers are well-suited to teach online and are skilled at keeping students engaged during remote learning. To make every chapter engaging, aspects such as videos, slides, images and digital copies of books and workbooks can be used. This allows students to receive personalized support and counseling in order to maintain their motivation (Sahu et al., 2022;Lapitan et al., 2021). Every other day, group doubt resolution classes ensure that there are no gaps in learning (Lapitan et al., 2021). All teachers require is a digital mindset, the appropriate tools and a committed approach (Sahu et al., 2022). If teachers can hold their students' attention, they can easily deliver an effective learning experience (Lapitan et al., 2021). Originality/value: This study was conducted to identify technological preparedness of faculty members of private universities in Bangladesh during COVID-19 period. Some studies were there to assess such kind of preparedness but none of those used TAM and technology readiness model either in isolation or in combination. Also, this paper focused on teachers' readiness in contrast to students' readiness specific to private universities. © 2023, Umma Nusrat Urme and Bikash Barua.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020 has forced Indonesians to practice physical distancing and carry out their personal and professional activities from home. However, not everyone is ready to conduct their regular activities remotely. The issue is the readiness for digital technology. The research aims to analyze the Indonesian people's readiness for digital technology during the pandemic. The research also investigates the impact of optimism and technology adoption on behavioral intention mediated by perceived ease of use. The research applies a quantitative study using an online questionnaire. The population of the research is people who use Internet technology for online learning, working from home, online shopping, and social activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research successfully gathered 327 respondents using purposive sampling. The research uses Structural Equation Model (SEM) method via SPSS AMOS software to analyze the data and generate findings. There are several findings. First, optimism has a positive relationship with perceived ease of use. Second, technology adoption relates with perceived ease of use positively. Third, perceived ease of use has a positive relationship with behavioral intention. Last, the empirical evidence for the mediation roles of perceived ease of use is inconclusive. The research also offers some managerial implications. © 2023 Sharif University of Technology. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The recent pandemic crisis has greatly impacted startups, and some changes are expected to be long-lasting. Small businesses usually have fewer resources and are more vulnerable to losing customers and investors, especially during crises. This study investigates how startups' business processes were affected and how entrepreneurs managed this sudden change brought by the COVID-19 outbreak. Data were analyzed using qualitative research methods through in-depth interviews with the co-founders of eighteen startups. Results show that the three core business processes affected by the COVID-19 crisis were marketing and sales, logistics and operations, and organizational support. The way to succeed is to be flexible, agile, and adaptable, with technological knowledge focusing on digital channels to find novel opportunities and innovate. Additionally, resilience, self-improvement, education, technology readiness and adoption, close relationship with customers and other stakeholders, and incubation experience seem to shield startups against pandemic crisis outbreaks. © 2023, Small Business Institute. ABSTRACT

After the COVID-19 pandemic, the pandemic, teachers quickly adapted to an Edutech-based. Many teachers began experiencing a high level of depression and doubted their own teaching competence. Therefore, this study examines the dual mediation of technology readiness (hereinafter referred to as TR) and readiness for change (hereinafter referred to as RC) in the relationship between Edutech competence and depression in South Korean teachers. Questionnaires regarding Edutech competence, TR, RC, and depression were distributed to 382 teachers (136 males and 246 females). A survey was administered to middle and high school teachers in South Korea using a mobile URL of Google from July 2022 to August 2022, and 382 complete responses were analysed. It analysed survey data through frequency, correlation analysis and structural equation modelling using SPSS 26.0 and Amos 25.0. The results indicate that, first, depression has a negative and significant correlation with Edutech competence, TR, and RC. Second, the results of structural equation modeling verify the mediating effect of TR and RC in the relationship between teachers' Edutech competence and depression. Finally, Edutech competence has a statistically significant impact on TR and RC but does not affect depression. Therefore, improving TR and RC, rather than merely acquiring Edutech competence, is necessary to address depression in South Korean teachers in the post-COVID-19 scenario. © 2023, Auricle Global Society of Education and Research. ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the adoption of virtual reality (VR) tourism technology in the post-COVID-19 pandemic using the Technology Readiness Index (TRI) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Data were collected from 456 users of VR tourism technology using an online survey. The structural equation model was employed to evaluate the hypotheses. All TRI constructs, except for the "discomfort,” affect two TAM constructs are perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Attitude is significantly influenced by perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. At the same time, it significantly affects intention. In increasing users' intention to adopt VR tourism technology, this study will encourage VR tourism technology creators to develop high-quality VR tourism technology to provide visitors with helpful and useful. Furthermore, marketing managers, local governments, and other parties concerned about the future of tourism also have to create an effective way to promote VR tours to enhance users' intentions. Empirically, this study is the first to examine VR tourism adoption using TRI and TAM after the COVID-19 pandemic. © 2023 AJHTL /Author(s)

ABSTRACT

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has been threatening the healthcare system. In this context, telehealth is a potential solution to deliver effective and safe health care to the public. To facilitate the application and acceptance of telehealth, a good understanding of psychological determinants is of great importance. Therefore, this study aims to examine the public's positive and negative mindsets towards telehealth. A theoretical model was established by employing the technology readiness model and perceived value theory. To empirically test the relationships between constructs, a total of 500 responses from residents in Singapore were collected; thereafter, structural equation modeling was performed. The results indicate that discomfort negatively impacts perceived value whereas optimism and innovativeness positively impact users' perceived value. Further, perceived value positively impacts the acceptance of telehealth via attitude. Demographic factors (i.e. internet literacy, age, education) can also influence certain aspects of technology readiness (e.g. innovativeness, optimism). Moreover, social influence is an important moderator between perceived value and the acceptance of telehealth. The empirical findings enhance the understanding of users' psychology concerning telehealth and provide policy recommendations regarding the development of telehealth to improve public health.

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 related lockdowns forced students of higher education to receive education entirely online as a replacement for physical attendance in classrooms. This new situation caused students to discover the advantages and disadvantages of e-learning and influenced their satisfaction in using it and intention to use it. Consequently, this study revisits the intention to use and satisfaction-related theories based on pre-COVID conditions. This revisit was necessary because the evidence suggests that students' new situation has changed some determinants related to their satisfaction and intention to use. This situation warranted the simultaneous consideration of many dimensions when measuring user satisfaction and intention to use during the lockdown. This cross-sectional study developed an integrated model to measure students' satisfaction and its impact on intention to use e-learning. Structural equation modeling was used to conduct the empirical analysis. Nine hundred respondents from Malaysia and Saudi Arabia participated in this study. Students from Malaysia and Saudi Arabia showed marginal differences in their perceptions of e-learning. The findings showed changes in students' perceptions toward satisfaction and intention to use e-learning, which might be due to using e-learning exclusively. © 2022 Common Ground Research Networks. ABSTRACT

Online food ordering (OFDO) services grew tremendously during the covid-19 pandemic due to rising health concerns and social distancing policies put in place. This research aims to examine the relationship between technology readiness level and intention to use OFDO services in Indonesia. Moreover, this research also incorporates the moderating effect of covid-19 pandemic. Surveys were distributed and data were analyzed using multiple regression. The results suggest that the driver variables (optimism and innovativeness) have significant positive effect on intention to use OFDO, while the inhibitor variables (insecurity and discomfort) have no significant effect on intention to use. Furthermore, the moderation of covid-19 situational effect shows significant results for all four variables. These findings suggest that OFDO services should brace themselves towards the end of the pandemic since the booster effect that it gets from the pandemic will soon be gone and they need to take extra measures to retain customers in the absence of the covid-19 pandemic. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Emergency remote teaching (ERT) has potential for transforming future instruction and learning across the K-12 educational domain. The study presented here evaluated empirical evidence from peer-reviewed literature pertaining to the challenges and opportunities experienced by teachers and students during the implementation of ERT prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To locate relevant reports and research, the authors explored three databases: Web of Science, ScienceDirect and Scopus. Based upon predefined selection criteria, they selected 51 studies for thematic and content analysis. Next, they developed a taxonomy which comprised three categories: (1) K-12 education responses to ERT; (2) educational inequality; and (3) learning outcomes. Using this taxonomy, the authors conducted a deep analysis and critical review to highlight multiple challenges and critical gaps in the literature surrounding ERT in K-12 education settings. Their review reveals innovative strategies for overcoming obstacles to technological readiness, online learning adaptation and teachers' and students' physical and mental health. This knowledge will be valuable to policymakers, researchers, practitioners and educational institutions in reducing the adverse effects of catastrophic situations on childhood education in the future.

ABSTRACT

With the rapid spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), schools around the world came to a shutdown. This resulted in an abrupt transition from face-to-face instruction to emergency remote teaching (ERT), resulting in numerous challenges that have greatly affected teachers. Even though research has identified key factors for teachers to effectively implement ERT in the context of the COVID-19 school shutdown, there is still little research on the factors (and their interrelations) that account for the differences between teachers' experiences. Following a theoretical model of technology readiness, this study aimed to investigate teacher profiles based on domains of technology acceptance, technology competence and technology control. In addition, this study seeks to explore whether teachers' emotional state during ERT varies between the teacher technology readiness profiles. A total of 124 teachers participated voluntarily in an online survey stemming from the research project "Students-Parents-Teachers in Homeschooling" in Germany. Results from a two-step cluster analysis revealed three distinct teacher technology readiness profiles. Moreover, the findings also revealed gender differences between the three technology readiness profiles. Lastly, an analysis of variance indicated that teachers' positive emotional state during ERT varied significantly across the clusters. Implications of the results for teacher education and teacher professional development, as well as further lines of research are discussed.

ABSTRACT

The emergence of mobile health applications (MH-Apps) has enhanced the healthcare field's services, particularly in the treatment, diagnosis, and follow-up. AMAN Mobile Health Application (AMAN MH-App) is one of the health-tech solutions used to fight the Coronavirus pandemic. It has a built-in feature to track users' activities to protect users from contacting an infected person. However, the acceptance of AMAN MH-App in Jordan is still in an early stage, and the number of users has reached 15% of the country's population. Therefore, this study aims to assess the use of AMAN MH-App among young people using the quantitative method. A total of (450) valid samples participated in the study after removing 33 invalid samples. Smart-PLS 3.2.7 was used for data analysis. The findings showed that all independent variables (Perceived usefulness, Perceived ease of use value, Subjective norms, Perceived behavioral control, Information Credibility, and Optimism) positively impact on the dependent variable (Behavioural Intention to use AMAN MH-App). We believe that AMAN MH-App's information's credibility (i.e. providing up-to-date, authoritative, accurate, and trustworthy information) will increase the number of the App's users. The results of this research can be applied to similar context and applications in different countries.

ABSTRACT

Smart airports have been emerged due to the fourth industrial revolution and the development of the aviation industry. The advent of smart airports makes it possible for the airports to accommodate more and more flight travelers than ever. The researcher conducted a study to investigate users' information sharing intentions according to the technology readiness and integrated technology acceptance theories due to the expansion of unmanned services resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Targeting airplane travelers through smart airports over the last three years, the researcher collected 370 survey responses. Among them, 354 answers were valid with the exclusion of 16 responses to improve the validity of the research analysis. The researcher used statistics programs such as SPSS (version 22) and AMOS (version 22) to measure frequency, validity, reliability analysis, and route analysis. Sub-variables of positive technology readiness, such as optimism and innovativeness, significantly affect performance expectation and attempt expectation, social status, and facilitating conditions, which are sub-variables of UTAUT. In contrast, optimism does not affect facilitating conditions. Besides, the research findings imply that UTAUT does affect information-sharing intentions. The researcher clarified the effects of positive technology readiness and expanded technology acceptance intentions and their relationships to information sharing intentions based on research results. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 pandemic has forced educational institutes to shut down, and teachers are compelled to adopt technology ardently so that the teaching-learning process does not suffer. Gradually, it is being realised that synchronous online classes are required to enhance the teaching-learning experience. The major challenge in India is the lack of preparedness of the teachers, as most teachers have little experience with technology. Nevertheless, they have to adapt themselves quickly. However, to effectively use technology for synchronous online teaching, teachers have to be technology ready and proficient with utilising the platform used for online classes. This study attempts to understand the impact of teachers' preparedness on the use of online platforms for synchronous teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper integrates the technology readiness index (TRI) and technology acceptance model (TAM), also known as the TR and acceptance model (TRAM), to investigate the phenomenon mentioned above.
